Wahrlich ein “home away from home”!

Amazing apartment and loft. Especially the apartment is really spacious. The view is incredible. Clean apartment in a safe neighbourhood. And a great service. We could stay in the apartment until the evening, because there was no booking for the same day. I would definitely recommend this apartment.

Petra stayed in the loft apartment for over 7 weeks. Her review on Airbnb:-
Thank you Stewart for a lovely stay! I had a really good time and I’ll be happy to come back next year!

    – Voisin kuvitella, että huonopolvisille haastava asunto monine portaineen.

We had the loft apartment at Braeside House. Stuart was a great host. It was no problem that we arrived earlier because of a changed flight. Everything we could possibly need was there. He even thought of a welcome pack with all essential foods and drinks for the first meal. Braeside is perfectly situated to discover Cape Town and the view over Green Point is great. Surely a place to go back to.

Thomas spent 4 nights at Braeside House and posted this review on Airbnb:

A review posted on Trip Advisor:
    “A Really Special Place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed by Jellymouse
This is an excellent place to stay. We had a few nights in the large part of the property, and then one night in the loft on our way back after we took a road trip up the Eastern Cape (a journey I very much recommend).

Many foreign tourists traveling in SA worry about safety, so let me assure you this feels like a very safe place to stay. It’s a quiet neighbourhood, there are appropriate security features on the property. It is in a great location though, you’re not gated off from the world. Stay in Greenpoint if you like things fairly peaceful and don’t need to be where the party is at all times. It was a short walk down to the beautiful seafront where we went for runs in the morning. Stuart provided information about local shops, restaurants, transport options.

The main apartment is clean and spacious. This was not a place that has been made to look bigger in photos! You could easily have a large group of people here. The loft is small and cosy but doesn’t feel at all cramped. Underfloor heating in one of the bathrooms was a real treat. There are gorgeous views out the front window of the main apartment which I hadn’t anticipated.

I have since recommended this property to other people, including some much older colleagues of mine, and they loved it too, so I think you could safely classify Braeside as suitable for couples, families with kids, groups of friends and older travellers (though do note there’s a steep staircase to get up to get inside).

Our stay at the Braeside House Loft Apartment was fantastic. The spotlessly clean place had a stunning view, with huge windows and a lovely deck. There was off street parking, and even a washing machine (a huge boon to a family). The location is extremely convenient – residential, but within easy walking or driving distance of pretty much everything. Highly recommended!

Sal weer gebruik vir verblyf omdat dit so sentraal geleë is.

Our arrival time has been delayed but Stuart has been very flexible, waiting for our our late arrival at Braeside House. The appartment is conveniently located in Green Point. We have enjoyed our week long stay at Braeside and definitely recommend it.

A fantastic apartment to stay in on our short venture to Cape Town…only wish we could have stayed longer! Very spacious with beautiful views of the city from the lounge. we felt very at home.

Stuart welcomed us with lovely little touches such as milk and orange juice in the fridge. It seems he has thought of all those little extras you might need and ensured they were all there.

The loft itself is very clean, bathroom is a great size and shower with plenty of hotwater. The kitchen is very well equipped with every possible necessity catered for. Along with those extra touches included big fluffy gowns and a proper hair dryer.

The loft is very well located with easy access to several of Cape Town’s attractions. We were left with plenty of Taxi contact numbers and loads of brochures to get our minds wandering where to go!

Great apartment with a fantastic view! It’s kept in a beautiful wooden style. It is very spacious and is equipped with all you need. Very comfortable bed! The only thing we would criticize is that the apartment was not all the way clean (floors, fridge) Stuart himself was a good host. Green Point is a central area and ideal to explore Cape Town.

Stuart’s apartment in Green Point was really perfect for our four night stay in the area. The proximity to the V and A Waterfront, grocery stores, etc. made it a wonderful location for exploring the city. The neat architecture of the multi-leveled loft and the views made this one of our favorite places to stay over our three week trip to Cape Town!

Steph and her two friends spent a week in the main apartment. Her review on Airbnb:
We were thrilled with our stay at Braeside House and Stuart was a wonderful host. He was fantastic with communicating and addressing our questions – from providing a letter for visas, to accommodating travel delays affecting our arrival time, to even printing out tickets for our visits to Robben Island and Table Mountain. The house was immaculately kept – from the dining room to the fairly spacious bedrooms and bathrooms (with towels and bathrobes!) – and had everything we needed (washer and dryer, kitchen items, etc.). The location is great – a short taxi ride to the V&A Waterfront (or 30 min walk), quiet and pleasant neighborhood. Stuart also provided tip sheets and had several guidebooks in the flat which were super helpful for us in trip planning. I would definitely stay here again on my next visit to Cape Town and would absolutely recommend others to stay here!

A first class stay, Stuart was there to welcome us, helped us settle in and gave us a thorough tour of the apartment. After that he was available if needed but left us to ourselves. A great apartment with fantastic views. There was tea, coffee, milk, orange juice, bread, powder for the washing machine and tablets for the dishwasher making our first day much easier. Good internet and plenty of informative stuff in the apartment. Green Point is a great place to be based for a holiday, supermarkets and plenty of eating places withing walking distance, with the V&A Waterfront about fifteen minutes away on foot. We will be back.

The loft is just great and the pictures on here don’t do it justice. You could spend the whole day on the terrace which has sun from breakfast early in the morning until Braai time in the evening and easily fits four people. The beds are comfy and you’ll find everything you need to make the most out of your Cape Town experience. Many supermarkets, shops, liquor stores, bars and restaurants are just around the corner, travelling in and around Cape Town with your car is easy due to the central location of the apartment. Some of the city’s sights are even just a short walk away. We had a really good time staying at Stuart’s and we’ll be happy to come back soon!

Keith & Gwen spent 8 nights at Braeside House and posted this review on Airbnb:
The loft is spacious with great views and located just a short drive from downtown Cape Town and from the V&A Waterfront. Stuart’s communication before our arrival was great and on our arrival he showed us around the apartment and got us settled. A comprehensive pamphlet helped answer some questions (WiFi password etc) as well as give us some information (shops and restaurants) on the immediate surrounding area. Parking and driving on the narrow streets was a bit of an adventure but never a major problem. We enjoyed our stay and would happily book the loft again if we return to Cape Town.

The Braeside main apartment exceeded my expectations in terms of size, comfort and location. The rooms were pleasantly appointed and the sheets and pillows spotless. Stuart has a superior coffee machine in the kitchen and an array of utensils to suit one’s cooking needs. Quiet neighborhood, central to the V&A waterfront, downtown, restaurants and activities. The Unicab service was exceptional, and the taxis were driven by uniformed cabbies who arrived within 10 minutes of calling. Address was easy to get to. You won’t be disappointed. Neighborhood was great though none of the taxi drivers seem to know the area (it’s a tiny street). Use Uber instead – cheaper! It is very close to the waterfront, the beaches in camps bay and a half hour walk to the shops on Long Street in the city center, for reference. The house itself is very spacious and as photographed. We did see the house cleaner and her daughter on a few occasions but they were quiet. Stuart who lives downstairs was very quick to answer our questions and helped us arrange airport transfer so that was fantastic. Only thing that bothered me was the loudness in the loft apartment but it may just be the thinner walls associated with an older house. The gale force winds were much more louder than any noise from other guests. I’d definitely stay here again if I’m back in Capetown. Very homey feel!

Staying at the Braeside House was wonderful. The house is actually more beautiful in person than the pictures show, and I thought the pictures were lovely. Stuart is very relaxed, as most of the people we met in South Africa were. He was around to help with any little thing we needed and was also out of sight leaving space for privacy. The housekeeper does live in a space just off the main house and came and went through the house that we rented. It was not a problem at all for us, however if you are looking for total privacy, this may not work for you as there is a modicum of sharing. The bathtubs in both bathrooms were divine for soaking after long days of walking. The location was perfect for a home base for many daily adventures. We walked to the waterfront, The Bo Kaap, downtown and many shops and restaurants nearby. We navigated the whole city by bus and rented a car only one day to go see the Penguins. When I return to Cape Town, I would love to rent from Stuart again.

Overall, the Loft is very well equipped, I loved the design and details of the layout of the apartment. However, the best thing is the amazing view from the bed room when waking up in the morning. We will definitely get back here next time we’re in town.

We also have a small starter pack pleased (milk, orange juice, coffee beans), I felt very comfortable when arriving. All in one it was a very nice and comfortable Cape Town experience. Due to its size, the apartment for 3 to 4 guests is highly recommended. We would definitely come back! :-))

I had a really great 4 night stay at Stuart’s apartment, a warm, cozy place but bigger than it looks in the pictures and has great views. Easy walking distance from the main restaurants and bars in Green Point. The location is very quiet and I felt safe walking at night. Stuart was there upon check-in and very helpful as a few minor issues came up during my stay but were dealt with promptly. I would definitely stay again!

The photos do not do this apartment justice. We stayed three nights in the loft apartment. I was expecting something very cozy. It was actually very spacious with everything you need for a short or extended stay. Stuart is a great host – very accommodating but definitely not intrusive. He has left instructions and helpful information throughout the apartment. Location is great. You do not need a car or taxi to see main sights if you do not mind a walk. We would generally walk to the waterfront to dinner and take a taxi back (80 R in the evening). There are good options just a short walk down the hill as well. Highly recommend.

Really beautiful apartment conveniently located. If you don’t fancy driving or taxis then Green Point is a great option for dining and drinking close to home. Stuart was unobtrusive and Karen, the housekeeper and her sister were very lovely and equally hardly visible! It was never a problem that they had access to the back part of the apartment and both were happy to help if we had any questions. Literally everything was thought of so there was no need to bother Stuart but I felt I could call on him if needs be. Would happily stay again and recommend in a heart beat.

The place was truly wonderful. A superb loft conversion, much more spacious than the pictures than the photos suggest, with great views front and back. The beds – including the drop-down – were very comfortable, the bath robes and towels comparable to a 5 star hotel. Though we did not cook much the kitchen was very well equipped, the coffee machine an extra treat and the washing machine and dishwasher unexpected bonuses. We were made to feel extremely welcome from the moment we arrived (milk and bread in the fridge), Stuart was around but never intrusive and the maid, Tererai, very sweet. I would strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a comfortable and memorable stay in CPT.

Stuart is an excellent communicator who replies to enquiries speedily answering any questions you may have. Payment is a smooth process.
On arrival you are supplied with a comprehensive information sheet on the apartment and a guide to local transport, shops, bars and restaurants. Then you are left to enjoy yourself. If you require assistance Stuart or his housekeeper Tarisai- who keeps the place clean- are available as they live in the same building.
A walk to Main Road and turn right for Green Point, or left for Sea Point both of which have great shops, bars and restaurants. It’s nice to sit looking at the sea at the Waterfront in any of the fine restaurants but do give the local area a visit. It’s well worth it for sheer variety.
The apartment is quiet day and night. Perfect for relaxation.

We enjoyed eating breakfast and occasionally dinner at home, which was exactly why we chose to stay in an apartment like this. For the price, it can’t be beat! We really enjoyed our stay at Braeside House, very much! It couldn’t be any better. Also the apartment is huge and gives everyone enough space to rest. For our child (19 month) it was the best choice because there was nothing danger in the flat. So he felt very comfortable too. The apartment itself stays perfect if you like to walk around (city, v&a, promenade) as you also can use a parking in front of the house and reach all the beaches in a bit. Stuart is a kind and easy going person. If you have any questions he will be there for you otherwise he is not bothering you at all. The perfect home base for a Cape Town vacation/adventure! I say home base because it really felt like a complete house. For 2 people over 5 days it was more than enough for us to enjoy our time in Cape Town with ease. Stuart was extremely accommodating, even with our changing check-in and check-out times. There was also a cleaner in on 2 of the days so our place was spotless over our stay. Location wise, Green Point is really central to everything and the place is within walking distance to groceries and restaurants. That being said we had a rented car and I believe that is essential to really get to see the city and all the beautiful areas around it. The last few things before I forget is that this loft has amazing views to wake up to and we really enjoyed the style of it. Everything was where it should be kind of like a sailboat. Stuart has gone to great lengths to make sure there is nothing missing.

The home itself was wonderful overall – very spacious and well-kept. There are 2 relatively large bedrooms, each with 2 twin beds, and each with its own bathroom with tub and shower. The main area of the house is quite comfortable as well. Stuart (the host) stayed in a separate basement area while we were there – we rarely saw him but he was always nearby if we had questions. When we arrived there was bread, milk, a few eggs, and coffee which was great. A couple of things to be aware of – the housekeeper and her daughter live in a separate unit in the back of the home, but it shares an entrance and they must walk through the part of the house you are staying in to get in and out. This didn’t bother us much but if you really want privacy this may not be the place for you. Also there is a set of steep stairs leading up to the home from the street so if you have issues with climbing stairs this would be difficult. We loved our time in Cape Town and would stay here again.

Private parking in front of house also is very convenient and You can reach all places of Cape Town within minutes. If some day will go back to Cape Town would like to stay there again!

Nice comments from Rama Geroux posted on AirBnB:
The Braeside loft is a perfect home base for exploring the city, in one of the best neighborhoods. The views are enough to stay put – very comfortable. The one touch espresso machine is quite convenient. Getting a good wifi signal can be done in the bedroom, or in the stairwell, but is spotty elsewhere. Stuart lives in the lower 2/3rds of the house and was attentive if anything was needed. If you are new to the city, take the ‘Red Bus tour’ to get familiar with the lay of the land, with many sights and attractions! The price seems low when compared to other accommodations. Would stay again for the views alone.

We can unreservedly recommend the loft apartment. It is convenient, comfortable, private and completely suitable for our 8 day visit to Cape Town. Stuart is a civilised host, obliging and polite. We appreciated the creature comforts provided, fresh coffee, fluffy towels, nice soap etc.

Nice review from Edyta who stayed in the loft apartment in January 2013 – posted on AirBnB:

If you’re looking for a place where you can feel like home, the Breaside Loft is exactly what you need. I stayed there with a friend in January 2013 for 7 nights and we both loved it. The loft is absolutely wonderful: super cozy, spacious, clean, and full of light, and the view from the window is amazing. It has everything and even more than you need during your stay! The balcony is a great addition; it is a perfect spot to have a breakfast on a sunny day. Stuart has thought of every detail to make this place feel like home (i.e. espresso machine, fluffy towels and robes, slippers), and we did feel like it! We also appreciated the little welcome food-kit left for us in the fridge. The location is more than perfect, close to both Waterfront and Seapoint. There is a little shop and a cafe just around the corner, a supermarket 5 minutes walk from the apartment, and plenty of restaurants within a walking distance. Stuart is a very kind and helpful person, very easy to communicate with; he responded immediately to our booking request and made the whole booking process an easy one. If we go to Cape Town ever again, we will definitely choose to stay in the Loft again!

I was in Cape Town for August and was extremely happy to have chosen Braeside House for my accommodation. It really has everything that I was looking for–great Green Point location, off-street parking, uncapped wireless internet, a full kitchen and laundry facilities. Very comfortable place to stay and entertain guests. Also was a good value for money, which is always key while traveling.

Plus, Stuart (the owner) was terrific. In the first week, there was a problem with my refrigerator working and it was fixed the same day. A great guy.

I will look forward to my next visit to Braeside House!
